Mission
Statements
The SD FFA Foundation strives to provide an avenue
of funding which will stimulate, promote and support the best interests of FFA
students; to create an awareness of agriculture careers, agri-business
opportunities and the needs of a growing and diversified industry.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of
students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.
The mission of agricultural education is to prepare
and support individuals for careers, build awareness and develop leadership for
the food, fiber and natural resources.
History
The South Dakota FFA Foundation was established in
1974 to support the needs of Agricultural Education and the FFA in South Dakota.
Each year, the Foundation's goal has been to increase funding to develop,
maintain and enhance FFA initiatives. Therefore, the Foundation has become
important to the success of Ag Ed/FFA in South Dakota. The Foundation received
501c(3) status in 1983 as a non-profit foundation.
Structure
The South Dakota FFA Foundation is governed by a
Board comprised of the Trustee and State-Wide Sponsoring Committees. As a
Board, they develop policies, set priorities and oversee the management of the
foundation. The State-Wide Sponsoring Committee members represent business and
industry leaders from each FFA district, and assist with securing financial
support. Agricultural Education instructors from each FFA district make up the
Trustee Committee.
Supporting the South Dakota FFA Foundation
Financially, the South Dakota FFA Foundation has
had great success in securing support for agricultural education through:
- Donations from individuals,
business and industry, associations, and FFA chapters for special projects and
the general fund (operational and fund-raising expenses).
To continue to meet the long-term financial needs
for operational expenses, the foundation is implementing "The Future is Now," a
multi-year giving program.
The South Dakota FFA Foundation is a 501c(3)
non-profit organization.
